Pedernales Electric Cooperative offers rebate incentives to residential members for the installation of energy-efficient HVAC systems in existing single-family homes. To qualify for incentives, participants must meet all program eligibility criteria and satisfy all installation requirements.
As part of Austin Energy's Appliance Efficiency Program (AEP), you can receive a rebate from Austin Energy to install a qualified energy-efficient air conditioning system. Replace your old air conditioner with an energy-efficient system and save energy and money. Newer, more efficient models use up to 40% less electricity.

1 Mini-Splits less than 18,000 BTU/hour (1-1/2 tons capacity) receive 50% of the above rebates.

*An eligible participant may apply to receive incentives for the replacement of multiple HVAC units at a single site.

All installations must reduce peak demand for electricity.
All required City of Austin permits must be in place.
All work must meet manufacturers’ standards and local, state, and national codes.
Your new air conditioner must meet the efficiency guidelines in the rebate tables.
You must replace all air conditioning system components.
Your installer must size equipment to approved ACCA Manual J methodology (or a minimum of 600 sq ft per ton/12,000 BTU).
You must attach proof that your equipment meets the sizing requirement (Manual J or a minimum of 600 sq ft per ton/12,000 BTU.
You must agree to a post-installation inspection by Austin Energy.
Air conditioning systems with electric resistance heating elements do not qualify.
